Works Great December 12, 2009 Ben A. Salisbury (FL USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
It works great. I wanted this for a while for our kitchen as it has no natural light coming in. We are always walking in or out with our hands full and I sometimes spill my drink trying to turn off the lights as I leave. Then after having our first child I was finally sold on getting one as my wife is always carrying the baby around.
As mentioned before it is a three way switch but I just used it as a single. Easy to setup the, the part that goes into the wall is slightly deeper than a normal switch but was also not as tall.
It has two great features:
Someone mentions that it doesn't have a choice of times for the lights to turn back on, not sure why they say that but this does have multiple time settings. You have 5s, 1m, 5m, 10m, 15m, 20m. Now I wish there were a few more time interval options like maybe 30 seconds, and a 2 minute one, but that is really not that big of an issue.
This also lets you adjust the photo sensitivity, so if your room has enough natural light during the day and you don't want this to turn on when the room already has enough light you can adjust that as well. I didn't try this as again my kitchen gets no natural light.
Both of these setting are under a small cover that is just above the switch (it has the "on", "off", "auto" positions written on it), you use a small screw driver to open the panel and then turn to the desired settings.
I have this connected to six lights, two are florescent lights. Have been using it for about a month now, hopefully it will last for a while, but considering the price and features it is a really good deal.
Works great... and yes the time does adjust. February 11, 2010 Van (Nebraska) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You CAN set both the time delay and the ambient light setting (controls turn on at night, day or both). You just have to read the instructions. A plate pops off the front and the controls are under. Works great!
Motion Switch April 6, 2010 Ultras (Florida, Tampa) I put this switch in the garage. It works very well and does not detect my 2 large dogs. Thank you again Amazon
Primitive Pete April 19, 2010 primitive pete I love this thing, easy to install, easy to use. The main resason I got this was my child would leave the lights on ALL THE TIME. With this they go on by themself they go off by themself. You can adjust when they go on (due to outside light), and how long they should stay on. They do work with energy saver bulbs. I have had these installed for about 30 days and I would recommend them.
Love it June 2, 2010 R. Hawkins Use it in the bathroom for a single overhead light, with the vanity light on a switch. Sensitivity and reaction time is great (although not adjustable). Being able to adjust it to not come on based on ambient light is also a great feature. Fixed settings for timer (e.g. 1min, 5min, etc.) would be nice if you could adjust for whatever you wanted. Overall though, does exactly what I want and works as described. Continuation of my good experiences with Heath Zenith products.
