This is just what i was looking for. It has the storage we needed for pool products, and provides extra seating for the pool area. We've had it a few months, and it it holding up well to the sun and rain.

Update: 3/18/2010:
Yes I am back. The bench didn't make it over this winter being left outside. I guess the sun, rain etc was too much for it to handle.
The problem specifically are the slates which make up the bottom of the bench's storage area have warped and are broken. Not sure how they are all damaged since I have not really done much with it over the winter but my guess is it just can't stand up to Texas's weather.
You maybe thinking
"Why did you leave it outside?"
Well the reason I purchased this item was to have an outside seating area which could also be used to contain yard items. If I wanted something which I would have to lug back into a garage or a garden shed then I would have probably just bought a container instead.
The bench was kept right off the side of my covered patio. Where the south sun was on the other side of the patio the bench was somewhat shaded but obviously even that was too much sunlight for it.
So I've recently purchased another storage bench from Target which is made out of heavy grade plastic to replace this one . Here is hoping it will take the

I purchased this bench because I wanted a stylish place to store BBQ and garden tools such as prongs, hand spade, gloves etc. The bench arrived in less than a week an a half. The bench arrived unassembled and unpadded in a box so some of the wood was a bit scuffed when we took it out of the box.
The bench was easy to assemble and it took my husband less than half an hour to put together.
The wood looks very solid it's not thin or broken and the color of the wood is a reddish colored wood, true to the picture you see here.
Most aspects of the bench's design looks pretty solid the only questionable part of the design is the bottom of the storage area. Instead of a solid piece of wood to make up the bottom of the storage bench there are instead two pieces of wood but both pieces seems rather solid. My husband tested the durability by standing on them and they didn't strain under his weight. He weighs about 180 pounds so I assume these two pieces of wood will hold a substantial amount of stuff without bowing or breaking.
The bench is a nice size and sits two people comfortably and the storage top (the seat area) is hinged inside with large, heavy duty looking brackets. When you lift the storage top you can feel that the brackets have a grip to them, they move stiffly and when you lift the top it will remain in the position you leave it. The storage top doesn't open where the seat is positioned straight up and down because the hinge is positioned in the middle of each side of the storage area but the top does opens up rather wide so I don't think full access will be a problem for anyone.
The wood planks that make up the bench and storage area is gaped so it's not going to be a good place to store items which you want to keep dry.
Over all I'm happy with the bench. It's a good alternative to other outdoor storage solutions I have purchased in the past and serves two purposes. 1) a place to sit and 2) an outdoor storage solution.
One concern I have is I haven't had time to find out how well it stands against the elements. Hopefully it can stand up to wind, rain and sun.

Update on 26/May/2009
Just an update about the bench. It still is holding up nicely but it finally started fading a bit. I slapped on some cedar color wood stain (was painting my fence) and that seemed to blend in nice enough where it doesn't look faded anymore.
